The Great Notley Repair Cafe is a community project set up to repair household items that would otherwise be destined for landfill. Anything from a toy train to a hedge trimmer, we've fixed them all The Great Notley Repair Cafe has a few goals. Primarily, it is a community project set up to repair household items that would otherwise be destined for landfill. We are modelled on the world-famous Repair Cafe movement. In addition to fixing gadgets, we offer a communal space in conjunction with the WI as a drop-in for a warm drink, cake and a chat. The WI provide refreshments and company whilst the fixers get to work. Our set-up was aided by grants from the district and parish councils. This provided the seed funding to purchase equipment, pay for insurance and pay for initial hall hire. Repairs are carried out for free, but we accept donations if offered. We meet once a month on the second Monday from 9 to 11 AM. So far, we've fixed everything from:
